Who decides whether or not the next level is implemented?

In statute, there is a provision that the Commissioners of Agriculture, Commerce and Pollution Control must submit progress reports to the legislature so that informed decisions are made prior to each increase in the biodiesel requirement.  (Refer further questions to the Commissioners of Agriculture, Commerce and Pollution Control.)

Is biodiesel sustainable?

We take the sustainable production of biodiesel feedstocks very seriously.

We fully support sustainable practices and the biodiesel industry is committed to making biodiesel from feedstocks produced in a sustainable way.

Any use of non]sustainable agriculture practices for biofuels feedstocks is opposed.

BIODIESEL REDUCES OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT:

  • At the B2 level, 258 million pounds of carbon dioxide are removed from diesel vehicle emissions annually.

  • Since the B2 requirement went into effect in 2005, a total of 1.2 billion pounds of carbon dioxide have been removed from diesel vehicle emissions.

B2 removes 258 million pounds of carbon dioxide annually

B5 removes 644 million pounds of carbon dioxide annually

B10 removes 1 billion, 300 million pounds of carbon dioxide annually

B20 removes 2 billion, 600 million pounds of carbon dioxide annually
